If you’ve spent any amount of time on the internet lately, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve met Jimothy.
And if you haven’t…
Allow me to introduce you to Seattle’s most famous little trash panda.
Jimothy is a wild raccoon who lives in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood, and he became an overnight internet sensation in July 2026 after a video of him running through a backyard went viral. His wonderfully unusual, round little shape is believed to be related to a rare congenital spinal condition often referred to as short spine syndrome.
But honestly?
You don’t need to know any of that to understand why the internet immediately fell in love with him.
Just look at him.
He’s round.
He’s tiny.
He’s slightly hunched.
He walks around like he has somewhere extremely important to be.
And somehow, this little guy has become a full-blown cultural phenomenon.
Jimothy has inspired fan art, memes, tattoos, a neighborhood mural, and even a Jimothy-themed night at a Seattle Mariners game. Seattle has basically decided that this raccoon is our collective emotional support cryptid now.
And naturally, as a knitter, I had only one reasonable response: I had to put Jimothy on a tumbler sweater.

Enter: The Jimothy Tumbler Sweater
Because if there is one thing I love about knitting, it’s being able to take something that makes you ridiculously happy and turn it into something you can actually make with your own two hands AND get to look at while * t r y i n g * to stay hydrated. Haha
So I designed a Jimothy the Seattle Raccoon Tumbler Sweater!
It features our favorite round little raccoon hanging out on a bright, cheerful sweater, complete with his distinctive little face and that wonderfully chunky Jimothy silhouette.
Knit Your Own Jimothy Tumbler Sweater!
The pattern is available as a $4 digital knitting pattern. PDF has full color chart and written instructions. You’ll want to know the basics of casting on, working in the round, rib stitch, binding off and duplicate stitch.
It’s a fun little project for anyone who:
- Has been personally victimized by Jimothy’s cuteness
- Loves knitting things that make people stop and say, “WAIT. Is that Jimothy?!”
- Has a favorite tumbler that deserves a ridiculous little outfit
- Enjoys knitting internet culture into existence
- Thinks every beverage needs a tiny raccoon
And let’s be honest…Your tumbler has been naked long enough.
One of my favorite things about being a designer and a maker is getting to chase those little sparks of inspiration.
Sometimes it’s a color combination.
Sometimes it’s a weird idea that pops into your head at 11 p.m. and then takes a few weeks to complete because of shiny object syndrome * hides face *
And sometimes the internet collectively loses its mind over a very round raccoon named Jimothy. And when something brings that much joy to people, I think it’s worth celebrating.
So whether you’ve been following Jimothy since his very first viral appearance or you’re just now asking, “Who is this extremely round raccoon everyone keeps talking about?” — welcome.
You’ve arrived at exactly the right time. Jimothy is here. And now he’s knitted.
